The New Church recognizes the Lord Jesus Christ as the one only God of heaven and earth. With this acknowledgement still many New Church people do not consider their church a denomination of traditional Christianity, but rather they see it as a new religion altogether.

"Now it is permitted to enter with understanding into the Mysteries of Faith," is an often-used quotation that our teachings use to refer to themselves. Many people are stunned at how much common sense and rationality the teachings of the New Church are filled with. These teachings apply to everyday life and make the life for those who study and live by them very happy and peaceful.

The New Church does not wish for anyone to believe in any of our teachings merely because we say they are true but rather for each individual to come to see the truth of New Church teachings for themselves. Below follows a list with some of our basic teachings:

God is Love:
Nothing but what is good can come from God, because His very nature is Love. God came to this world in the form of Jesus Christ, who is the one only God.

The Word:
The Bible has a deeper meaning taught in the New Church, so people can know who God is and better learn how to apply truth and live useful lives to eternity.

All religions have goodness in them:
There are many paths to heaven. Heaven is for everyone who wants to live there - heaven is where people (angels) live and want to be useful. While people are free to choose to live forever in hell, God wants everyone to live with Him to eternity.

There will be no "last judgement":
God does not judge us, but we judge ourselves by what we love and how we live. People are saved who love God and try to live a good life according to what they believe is true.

Marriage can last forever:
God blesses people with a special love in marriage that goes on after death, even to eternity.

God's providence is powerful and unending:
God guides each person's spiritual path, from the smallest things up to the biggest things, and His angels are with us "every moment of every moment."
